Finally I got a little time to do an interview last week for security analyst. It went well...I felt that I did really with technical questions. Moreover, I felt comfortable with everyone. With that, I hope to hear something this week. Wish me luck....please

That's the most important part of the interview imo.
(both parties are actually being evaluated)
i made an impromptu wisecrack during my last interview;
Both the people chuckled aloud.
I took the job :] -
yellowpad Member Posts: 192 ■■■□□□□□□□I want to keep everyone know that one place called and told me that I am their top candidate and they are looking for a reference from my current employment.
I can not provide that knowing that if my employer knows that I am looking, I may get the boot.Completed MSCIA f/ WGU~ CISSP 5-days boot camp scheduled -

Yeah and if they give you a good reference it is probably a bad sign that your not very good and they want you to leave haha.
I would never use a currently employers as reference.
References kinda seem like an outdated practice. #1. I'm only going to give you references of people i know will say good things. #2. If you spent 5 years at your current place of work and 5 years at your previous your not going to give a reference from your currently employer so they are looking at 10 year old references.
I've hired building contractors. I've never asked them for references. I looked up what they worked on, drove by places they built, talked to people in the area etc....
If i asked them for a reference i'm expecting to get some one who is going to talk very good about them.
There was an article I read not so long ago about employees doing reference checks on employers. The article said people are calling up people who work or previously worked at the business they are interviewing at. I've never done that I just generally look who works there whats their background etc... Then I look at who has left and where they went and i feel that can tell speak volumes about the company. -

Tell them you are not able to jeopardize your current employment without a firm offer in hand from them. Tell them to contact your current company once you have an offer. FYI, Many companies don't give out professional references anyway as they will refer you to HR which will provide very basic information such as title and years of employment. -

Danielm7 Member Posts: 2,310 ■■■■■■■■□□I think you did the right thing. I don't know why a company would want a current job reference, of course they are going to know you're looking to leave after that call. I can't imagine many people allowing that one.

To all that is afraid like I was, be yourself and try to relax. Show your value and how you can contribute to their organization. Equally important, show them that you can fit in as a personCompleted MSCIA f/ WGU~ CISSP 5-days boot camp scheduled -
