A tricky one for you all..

Hi all,

I have a question for you all to answer... This one really made my brain tick.

If we are using a /30 mask on an address we know that we have 2 usable host addresses, one network address, and one broadcast address..

whats the answer (or should I say... ) how many USABLE host address are there if we use the subnet zero command? and what would be an example of their addresses on a 192.168.1.0 address?
I hope this makes some kinda sense... I know what I want to say, but to explain it, I never get it out right

Its no tricky at all.
Subnet zero is used to increase the number of subnets not hosts.
So the answer is still 2 hosts for /30
So as an example 192.168.1.1/30 is illegal if subnet-zero is disabled as
this host is defined in the 0 subnet.The first legal address would be 192.168.1.5 part of the first legal subnet 192.168.1.4.
