Studying for Two Different Certs Same Time?

Im currently studying for CCNA but recently my job has tasked me with learning/becoming one of the Linux admins in our shop for 2-3 of our servers. Now i don't know anything about Linux except for the fact its an OS and the shell it uses is called bash . So they've been given me time to study for a Linux+ cert at work , but i also study for my CCNA. i was wondering what should i do in this situation?

Should i keep studying for both certs or put one of them on the back burner? Im more concerned on getting CCNA though since i love networking and want to be a network engineer in the future but problem is my job wants me to learn Linux.

I can only do one at a time. My attention span is limited. You may have luck doing both, but conventional wisdom is 1 cert at a time. Finish what you start.

Yeah I think it depends on how easy the knowledge is coming to you and how well you are retaining it. If CCNA is coming pretty easily to you, perhaps you could tackle two at a time.

It seems (given your description of your knowledge on Linux) that the Linux certification will be a challenge.

Is the Linux cert a job requirement? I would prioritize whichever one will be of more importance immediately vs long term.

You can certainly study for two certs at the same time, the issue here is that you've chosen 2 of the most difficult entry level certs and have little to backup the Linux one. I'm sure the context wouldn't be too terrible, but the heavy amount of syntax memorization in both could very easily become overwhelming. So the better question is how comfortable are you with rote memorization, because that will be the big difference maker with those 2 particular certifications.

It's doable. However I wouldn't recommend it. Also time will factor in, the more can focus on one cert the quicker you can knock it out.
