    I would think so, phones are not going away in businesses...A good friend of mine is studying his at his new job. I think specializing in certain technologies of IT makes you more valuable, especially whenever you master it.

    I'm going to be studying it myself. My job is in the process of upgrading to Cisco CUCM. I may do it after CCENT. I have a telecom background.

    There's definitely value in knowing the technologies and having the certification. There's also value in being a Microsoft Lync expert. The question is does it interest you though?

    I'm getting started on a project myself. I look forward to learning it, but I don't see it as something I'd specialize in.
