70-697 or 70-698

My employer requires me to get a desktop cert. I want to take one of the win10 certs, but I keep hearing how hard the 697 is because it incorporates ALL of the other Win10 features like Azure, Intune, and RemoteApps. I looked on the microsoft site and the 698 seems to be more Win10 focused without all of the other stuff. There is currrently no study material out yet for the 698 and plenty for the 697. I'm unsure which one I should take.

It's worth baring in mind that you don't get a cert for 70-698 on its own. I've just done it and now working towards 70-697 to get the full MSCA.

When you say "you don't get a cert for 70-698 on its own" do you mean you dont get anything that shows you passed the test or do you mean you dont get the FULL MCSA cert from only 698. Sorry if this is a beginner question. Ive never taken microsoft certs before, only CompTia.

Also how difficult was the test and what study materials did you use? Any info helps/ Thanks.

The exam will appear on your transcript when you pass, but that's it, you don't get a 'Microsoft Specialist' cert like you get for 70-697 or various other single exams.

The exam was okay difficulty wise, I only really studied with the official MS Exam Ref book, and the MeasureUp practice exam. I had bought the booster pack to get the 4 resits, so decided to do the first try quite quickly (only 2 weeks study time) just to get a feel for the exam, and ended up passing it barely with a score of 700.

Nice! Did you find it an easier exam than 697? (if you've written that one that is)

What made you take the 698 over the 697? I know the 697 was out way before it.

Haven't done 70-697 (yet). To be honest I hadn't really intended on doing 697 any time soon, and was only going to do 698 to go alongside my 680 cert. It wasn't until after I sat the exam that I realised there was no cert on its own, so it's encouraged me to start studying for 697 as well. :)
