How in the heck am I MCSE now?!?

I passed my 413 exam today. Went to MS site and said I now have an MCSE in Cloud track!! I thought I still had 414 to take. Here are my exams and the date for when I passed.

413 Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure Oct 07, 2016
411 Administering Windows Server 2012 Jan 14, 2015
410 Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 Jan 11, 2015
74-409 Server Virtualization with Windows Server Hyper-V and System Center Specialist Dec 28, 2014

Now, I did take both Cloud exams 246 and 247 which I did not pass. So I decided to switch to Server Infrastructure track and take 413 and 414.

Anyway, how in the heck do I have an MCSE by only passing these 4 exams?? It is very clear on my transcript and certificate that I have MCSE now. I'm happy about it, but confused.

You can get the MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure with MCSA 2012 + One on a list of exams. 410 + 411 + 74-409 will get you the MCSA, and 413 is on their list of exams.

It's a bit ridiculous to call this MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, but there you have it.

The MCSE Private Cloud still requires 246 and 247. But now that you are a Cloud Platform expert, those should be easy

Well my situation is a little weirder. I passed my 74-409 (along with the 410 and 411 exams). And now I am not only MCSA, but MCSE Productivity.

I am looking into contacting Microsoft soon to get this corrected...

I remember those days, I thought the MCSE was virtually unobtainable. Studied off an on but didn't get into gear until 2012 dropped. With the "take an MCSE and pass it down" setup they have now, it does feel a tad watered down. I can only imagine what someone who took all six core exams and one elective exam for the 2003 must be thinking.

it feels like M$ is giving away their certifications.

Does the MCSA/MCSE expire after 3 years (similar to comptia, cisco, etc)?

I'm in the same boat but for SharePoint. I have the 70-332 to complete before I have the MCSE: SharePoint 2013, but woke up last week to an email congratulating me on my MCSE..... MCSE in PRODUCTIVITY! Argh don't get me started on the naming!

But yeah I also brought the booster pack to tackle the 332 and its basically wasted.

Anyway I spoke to someone on the Born to Learn site and they say that these are a life time cert with the option to take an elective to make it up to date.

For example my MCSE is Productivity 2016 come 2017 I'm a year "out of date" so I could then take an elective to update it.

It's a bit of a joke if you ask me.

I'm actually kind of embarrassed for them.
but after thinking it over...... i've decided to do the 413 myself!

Well huh. This is welcome suprise. I am MCSA 2012 and was looking to upgrade to MCSE 2016. I figured 2-3 exams to do so. Looks like the 413 or 414 will get me there. Any recommendation on which to take?? I am guessing the 413 may be the less difficult. Also, if I am reading this right the 413 or 414 apply to both Server Infrastructure and Cloud Platform\Infrastructure which seems odd to me.

Well,
according to the following link, there are 10 possible course/exams (Cloud Platform) that you can choose from:

You only need to successfully pass one.

But not sure how this new "recertify EVERY year" gimmick is gonna fly...

To answer your question: Yes & NO.
The 413 & 414 only apply to the MCSE '2012 tracks.

Passing both will Not make you a MCSE Server '2016.

(this is kinda confusing)
