    First contracts generally have to pay more not less money than a FTE opportunity. If you have benefits now this contract would be like taking another 20-30 pay cut. You'll read alot of inflated stories on this board that are contract and not FTE. Add to that no annual training. No 401k, vacation, PTO holidays, etc and it all adds up rather fast. Particularly if your relying on your spouse to provide benefits for you and any children.

    I know security is hot today but a help desk position by any other name is still help desk. Changing the title to administrator with less money and your next position is likely to think much like the gentlemen trying to hire you away from your current position: "sucker" for a title.

    Bad bet in the short a mid-term. Longer term, maybe but highly suspect.

    Thank you all for the good advice. I denied the job offer and will continue to obtain more certs for a better job position.

    Don't do it too much at risk.
    CCNA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCDST, MCITP Enterprise Administrator, Working towards Networking BS. CCNP is Next.
