Happy 6th
dave330i
It's been 6 years since I switched career to IT. During that time, I've worked for 3 companies, held 5 titles and quintupled my earnings (calculator says 4.8 ). Managed to achieve most of the career goals I've set for myself at the beginning of this journey. I'm moving further away from technology, so need to spend more time honing my softskills and formalize big picture knowledge.
Few earlier threads by me explaining how I got here:

Congrats on the achievement. I am also at that point were I will have to accept the inevitability of moving away from the trenches and focus more on an internal consulting/management role. Fun times.

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing your journey.

So I take it you are moving to more of a management or architectural role?
By the way congrats on how you made it to 100k+ after just two years. 98% of the people in IT can't/won't achieve that in two years. In fact they say you are a high achiever if you get to six figures in five years. You did it in two years. Really impressive.

Thanks.
Be willing to go against conventional "wisdom" if it makes sense for you. Logically weigh the pros and cons, then choose path that makes the most sense for you. I went against wisdom multiple times and they've worked out in my favor.
