Passed CISSP first try
Passed the CISSP today. Now to pay it forward.
Studied a few months using:
FedVTE CISSP course
Skillsoft CISSP course
Cybrary.it videos
Sybex 7th Edition (read most of it and took all quizzes)
McGraw Hill practice tests
Altogether I probably took about 2000 practice questions.
If I would have failed I really don't know what I would do to prepare any better. Even if I had memorized every bit of my study materials I don't know that I would have done any better. It really does come down to knowing the concepts. I have about 10 years of IT experience and about 4 years of general Systems Admin work (managing firewalls, ACL's, patch management, and other general IT stuff), and the last 2 years directly in security.
P.S.-Took me about 4.5 hours with a 5 minute break at 100 questions and another 5 minute break at 225 question. I marked about 20 for review but only changed 2 or 3 of those.
Also, I was averaging about 75% on Skillsoft and about 80-82% or so on all other practice tests
