Great progress! I am thinking about doing the MBA ITM next year. How many classes are exam based and how many are performance based? Are there group projects?

Passed my marketing assessment earlier this weekend. Very straightforward, just read the material and type up an assessment. The only thing of note is that my paper was returned a few times for edits before it was finally submitted which is odd but at least this class is over.

New semester starts this week. This will hopefully be my last semester.

    Questions, let me know
    Thanks

Keep up the great work... almost there. :)

When you hit the Capstone... hit me up... I hired a tutor for the CapSim portion... well worth the $$$ considering the time saved and end result. We scored a 93% overall. The tutor really helped clear up a few things and explained different strategies...again.. well worth it.

I submitted my assignments for C206 over the weekend and received confirmation this morning that they were all accepted. Ethics was another straightforward class where you do the reading and write up your papers to complete the course. I re-ordered some of the coursework based on how many weeks I had in my first semester and there is a big difference since I altered my game plan. Financial Management was tough but with that, Marketing and now Ethics complete, I can proceed with the coursework for Data Driven Decision Making which I started reading over the weekend.

    Questions, let me know
    Thanks

Completed C207 late last night. I finished the reading, completed the performance assessments and then concentrated on the exam. I felt that the reading material for this course is straight forward, but the OA makes you apply the knowledge from what you read as opposed to memorizing the definition of the statistical terms. When it came to the PA, I had task 1 returned 2x because of a missing waiver form, so I had to wait an extra five days to have my assignments graded (queue is very long for grading these days). Also, I noticed that MyWGU no longer indicates how much you need to pass exams so if you start the curriculum now, you may want to google the score so that it will help you with your approach.

I'm taking the night off tonight and will begin MMT2 tomorrow. Questions let me know!

Received confirmation that MMT2 is complete, just in time for my first capstone activity. I don't think this course was TOO bad but Task 4 of this assignment had me worried it would be returned so I overdid it to make sure I passed (looking at it again, serious overkill). Everything else was pretty straightforward if you just do your reading and answer the questions.

    On to the capstone
    I'll keep you posted

Thanks again for the update Hatch
I have my cohort call this evening and would like to know when would be a good time to bring this guy in for help? Do I do it before the SIM starts? After?

As soon as you have access to the SIM and have at least read over the SIM guide.... I would contact him. I only wish I would have found him a c couple of weeks sooner than I did. He does a great job breaking down each section of the SIM and helps cover strategies on how to tackle the game. We did a group meeting and he went over each part with each individual. It was worth the money spent to save time/effort/energy with the simulation. In the end... we scored a 93% ... it would have been higher but I messed up in round 2 and had to recover. :) All in all.. well worth it.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Yesterday I received confirmation that my final course task was approved so my MBA is now complete. I guess this moment hasn't really sunk in yet so I'm still trying to process how I'm feeling but for now I'm relieved that this milestone is complete

Will take a few days to relax with my family after which I'll resume my studying for the PMP
I will write a follow up later detailing my time at the university.

Now that I've had a few days to process the fact that my MBA is over, here are my thoughts about the program.

The WGU MBA: ITM program a lot of business courses in the curriculum and even though the assessments ask you for IT solutions to business problems, your answers can be as technical as you'd like so there is no harm in overkill if you have the time. Thoughts on each course (difficulty level out of 11 courses with 1 being the easiest)

    1. Managing Organizations and Leading People - C200 | Performance
Difficult ONLY if you haven't been in school for a while and aren't familiar with the learning model. I definitely over did my assignments because I was not sure what to expect (4/11)
    2. IT Project Management - MGT2 | Performance
I'm an IT project manager so this course was one of the easiest for me (3/11)
    3. Managing Human Capital - C202 | Objective
Very straightforward class about HR and surface level management topics (2/11)
    4. Marketing - C212 | Performance
Not that difficult if you follow the directions after reading. You need to exercise your creativity to find a technical solution that will keep you engaged (5/11)
    5. Global Economics for Managers - C211 | Objective
This course will be the first time you take an exam so if you're not familiar with the learning model, you will not know what to expect. There is a wealth of material here as well so it is not complicated but it is tricky (6/11)
    6. Accounting for Decision Makers - C213 | Objective
If you tailor your curriculum for this course to follow C211 and BEFORE C214 then it isn't so bad (7/11)
    7. Financial Management - C214 | Objective
One of the hardest courses for me. There is TOO MUCH material and the course is not organized so well so the passing score is lower than any other OA. I took my time studying to make sure I passed this on the first try (10/11)
    8. Ethical Leadership - C206 | Performance (recently from P&O to P only)
Easiest course in the curriculum IMHO. If you've worked in an office environment for a while, then you will be fine (1/11)
    9. Data Driven Decision Making C207 | Performance & Objective
This course can be towards the and has an Objective adn Performance assessment which is the only one of its kind in the curriculum so it gets a higher ranking because of the workload (8/11)
    10. IT Strategic Solutions MMT2 | Performance
This was the most technical course in the curriculum overall and I put it towards the end. I wish I took this course a little earlier because I definitely need a break from all of these business courses. There are 4 performance assessments here so its only ranked that high because of workload and not complexity (9/11)
    11. MBA, Information Technology Management Capstone - C218 | Performance (group project as well as solo)
The toughest course in the curriculum for a couple of reasons. First of all, you start your journey studying solo and are all of a sudden thrust into a group project so it throws you off. Second, the simulation is tricky and requires determination, coordination and patience. The video was a little tricky for me because I had to find the energy to present a coherent assessment of my time at the university and that's only because I do my school work after midnight every night. The paper for this assignment was easy for me only because I was working on it 3 months before I started the course (11/11)

The most difficult thing to manage for this program was time. I completed my BS:CS from a B&M over ten years ago and had to find time to study all while having a wife, kids and a fulltime job

Overall I'm pleased with the accomplishment and actually applied a handful of things I've learned towards my current IT PM role. When you factor in the cost, I am pleased with the degree and would recommend WGU to others.

Let me know if you have any questions.
