CCENT/CCNA vs A+/Network/Security for a career change
fraserdwar
Hey all. I'm starting a new career in IT. I have plenty of management and telcom experience with a few degrees (just finished a masters in IS). My question is should I start with Comptia or Cisco? I'd prefer to be in management, but have no problem working on computers again. I have a decent base and plan on taking exams after the holidays. Thanks for the help.

I'm thinking you have telecommunications experience? But in all honesty it depends on what you are trying to do. CCNA may mesh well with your telecommunications experience. Those CompTIA certs are entry level certs and use maintly for tech support or entry level IT gigs. The sec+ may be the most useful out the bunch. As it can qualify you for govt gig. But other than that I would be looking at a CCNP or other advance cert or track to mesh in with a master degree.
