VMWare Workstation setup

Hello,

I have a Cisco Router and a Cisco Switch

In order to setup a real life lab I would like the switch to be connected to virtualised OS's

I need to decide what I need to buy and I just want to know how it can integrate with vmware workstation.

So for example, if I bought a 8port switch and connected it my main desktop would it see 8 different network adaptors?

What would you like to accomplish with the setup? Do you have a plan for the virtualized environment? It's not that difficult to use workstation to host multiple virtual devices, whether those are routers, switches, servers or simply containers.

No, simply plugging a switch into the back of your PC won't make workstation see 8-12 ports.
