When to start using practice exams & staying fresh on old content

For the CCENT/CCNA material I've got two quick questions
At what stage of your study would you start looking at practice exams?
How often do you go back and revise previous chapters/what strategy do you use to keep the older content fresh?

1. I do practice exams after I have completed reading the material.
2. I use the practice exam results to determine what my weak areas are and go back to read those. I go back as often as necessary.

That sounds like a reasonable approach as I felt like if I started too early it'd be learning to purely ace the practice exam. I'll make the practice tests the 'icing on the cake' of my study plan
Thanks!

I used them after reading and labbing. I read the book(s), watched videos, labbed in between, then did Boson a couple weeks before exam day. Good luck.
