Ciscos OCG for the CCNP switch has only a definition in the book. Do I need to know this for the exam?

Its also referred to as MEC, multichassis etherchannel.

Based off a google search, its the same as LACP but can be used on hardware besides cisco? Is this accurate?

Thank You

You should know what it is, yes. If you know how to configure L2 and L3 etherchannel, you already know how to do multi-chassis etherchannel. The setup is the same, you're simply using ports split across at least two devices on each side of the port-channel. It could be any type of Cisco switch, makes no difference, the switches on each side just need to be stacked, in a VSS or vPC.

Many manufacturers support it, they just may have a different term for it.
