The 2008 and 2003 certificate programs are a bit different. The 2008 Technology Specialist have many different specializations whereas the 2003 only have one generic MCP certification. No matter if you had passed 270, 290, 291, 293, etc, etc you would still get the generic MCP certification.
    CERTS: VCDX #110 / VCAP-DCA #500 (v5 & 4) / VCAP-DCD #10(v5 & 4) / VCP 5 & 4 / EMCISA / MCSE 2003 / MCTS: Vista / CCNA / CCENT / Security+ / Network+ / Project+ / CIW Database Design Specialist, Professional, Associate

On a serious note, you may want to put watermarks on there to prevent such a thing from happening.

I got mine 1 year ago and it looks exactly like that one. Looks kinda cheap if you ask me.

I received my Security+ in August, and that is the form that they used. Our new techs at work are getting A+, and their certs are also the same form.

I liked the look of the old ones better, but a cert is a cert.

I do not understand why people think the new MS certs look bad. That's a very nice looking paper, there. Cisco is like 3rd world by comparison.

I agree. I'd be happy if Cisco went with a similar color/layout.

Well, telco companies offer "unlimited data access" which is actually capped at 5GB/month, so a "life-time cert" may indeed expire after 11 years. icon_lol.gif

I was going to suggest that it was similar to the new CompTIA certifications that mention an expiration date for the content covered. But I would think 2020 is a long time for a content change on a wireless certification test.

Did you have to pay for that plaque?
  • Paul BozPaul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□
The course and exam challenge was $3800 so yeah. I mean not additional to the original costs, but for 4 grand they better give me a plaque, minimum.

Yeah, I guess so. Looks really nice! With GIAC do you have to take another exam to keep your certification current?
  • Paul BozPaul Boz Member Posts: 2,620 ■■■■■■■■□□
I'm pretty sure I have to recertify each individual cert every three years or so, but that the fee is extremely small and includes all new course material for the challenge.

    Yeah, it's totally different now.

My Network+ looks just like the one that you posted, but my A+ has a new design. The certificate is much smaller and the card that they send is actually a hard card like a credit card.

It's pretty nice, but the actual certificate is still kinda flimsy. It comes in a nice "congratulations" brochure as well.

This is what the newer Comptia Certs look like. Sorry, I didn't scan the card. But take this image and shrink it to a credit card size and voila.
