The first and second don't overlap. I own both. I don't really care much for the questions that come with the book. I have seen some say that the 1300 question exam is too technical, but I can't say so yet since I haven't taken the test yet.WGU grad -

There is minimal overlap maybe a question or two that were verbatim.
