MCSE for Cloud?

I've been doing some thinking about my career lately, and have decided to shift towards the cloud to see if it interests me. My initial plan was to go straight for AWS Certified Solutions Architect. However, I noticed that since I have my MCITP for Exchange 2010, I could pass 1 exam to get my MCSA 2012, and then later take one exam on Azure and become MCSE Cloud Platform & Infrastructure

When I completed my MCITP, I pretty much swore off MS exams, but since my goal is cloud, do you folks think I should go this route, or just focus on AWS?

If you have a solid working background in Windows infrastructure, I think it makes sense to leverage that strength and add something like AWS later. If you don't really have the working experience (hard to tell from your cert profile) I might move on to AWS though.

I sure do. I spent 4 years working as a Sr. Windows/Vmware Administrator, prior to moving to the network side. My focus will be cloud. In my area seems AWS is more prevalent, but both AWS and Azure are on my list.

As a Windows admin, it might be better to learn Azure and think about going AWS in the future.

Thanks. Any specific reason for this suggestion? Both services are capable of running windows environments

Azure, being a Microsoft product, just seems more tied into the Windows ecosystem than AWS does. And more Windows shops making the move into public cloud today seem to settle w/ Azure than AWS from my anecdotal experience. On top of that, the certifications themselves are more closely related.

I'm a Linux admin. Most of the AWS training resources I've gone thru seem to assume some Linux exposure but not much on the Windows side. On the contrary, the Azure training resources I've gone thru have assumed some Windows experience, to the point that I was Googling for info outside of what was directly related to Azure.

Either would be fine tho. And ROI would be dependent on the job market in your location. The above is just from my personal experience and the job market in my location.
