Why learn Azure before AWS?

As mentioned in one of my other posts, I've been giving a lot of consideration to focusing my career on cloud, to change things up.

I spent 4 years as a VMware/Windows/Exchange administrator, and now I'm working on the networking side of things. Long term plan would be to know both Azure and AWS, but my question is why choose to start with one before the other? I can only assume that since I have windows experience, I'm guessing Azure would be "easier" to learn. However, AWS seems to have more job postings in my area so that's why I was leaning towards AWS. The goal is to move on to a cloud position, as that won't happen where I'm at now

Figured I'd post this here, because I can debate all day in my head, but I'd rather get started learning

I responded in your other thread about why I thought you might want to go Azure prior to AWS.

However, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Pick one and dive into it. Or play around w/ both of them simultaneously.

just saw your reply in the other thread, thanks for the info! I decided to make a new thread to separate from the MCSE cert. Not sure how many cloud folks are on this forum.

I definitely see your point, and agree Azure seems more appealing to a windows admin. I'm in NJ and from what I'm seeing not many companies are asking for Azure currently.

The flip side to that is there may not be nearly as many Azure qualified and certified individuals, therefore driving up demand for those who are, and thus income.

Devils advocate says that since AWS is currently being used more there would be more opportunities to get into too. JoJo is right though, you could really become specialized in Azure but you have to hope it continues to grow.
