the cable question answer is serial and parallel. check out the tech notes at this site. they are pretty good. Also some of this is covered under the A+ tech notes. Especially the DMA channels

...anyhow the answer is 8 DMA channels: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7

computers can be "networked" via serial, parallel, usb cables and also intra red.

a+ doesn't do into this too deeply surely. i imagine they are more likely to ask questions about this via way of asking about something like laplink
