Hi Everyone! First time posting here!

I am located in Nashville and I'm trying to determine what positions I would qualify for. I am in the National Guard and I work at the state help desk as a GS11, but I would really like to move away from the help desk side of IT. I am very interested in security and I would like to work my way up to a career in that field.

Active DOD TS/SCI
Sec+, A+, CCENT, MCTS:W7, Configuring

I'm also starting at WGU in their BSIT program in July as a transfer.

Any help/advice is much appreciated!

Go up to Clarksville and look on Ft Campbell.

Whatever you do, stay in a position that uses that TS/SCI. It is a huge mark in the plus column, and it is a ***** to get back once you no longer have it.

If you are wanting to get into the security side of things, consider doing the BSIT:Sec. It could help steer in the direction you want.

Lastly, take advantage of the CLEP and DANTES testing services. You can accelerate quite a bit of the degree before you enroll at WGU, and I believe your testing is free. Study on your own, and knock those tests out. It may well save you several grand down the road, depending on how many sessions you are at WGU.
