Maximum MST instances

Hi folks,

I have read different numbers for the maximum number of MST instances:

- "Cisco supports a maximum of 16 MSTI's in each region" - OCG page 279
- "But each region can only support up to 64 spanning tree instances" - Cisco configuration guide - Configuring MSTP, page 16

Are these two conflicting, or is there something about MST and RSTP going on here that I am unaware of?

Got the answer (kind of) from Cisco discussions:

It's vendor and implementation dependant.

As an example, Nexus 3000 with NX-OS 7 supports up to 65 MST instances.....
