I don't understand the concept of layer 2 encapsulation over WAN, why is it not Layer 3 encapsulation? considering it's IP based?

    WAN technologies are Layer 2, HDLC, PPP, PPPoE, anything that needs to be sent out a physical interface is encapsulated in layer 2, I think!!!
