EU Parliament committee wants massive end-to-end encryption, no more snooping ‘backdoors’

An EU Parliament committee has proposed implementing end-to-end encryption for all digital communications and banning so-called “backdoors” which allow law enforcement guaranteed access to private data.

The proposals were put forward by the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs earlier this month.

Under the proposals, providers of “electronic communications services” would have to ensure there is protection “against unauthorized access or alterations” to sent messages.

It's an honourable attempt, but I don't see it coming into ratification unless all the member states agree, which is either a rare thing or just takes literally years, if not decades.
