Basic question from newbie to those who have studied this course.

I am working through MS labs in their book, to get hands on practice.

My current config is ....... dedicated to this course

DC running WIN2K SP4
Member server running WIN2K SP4 Exchange 2003 installed and running fine.
Both on same domain.

Will this be enough, to get some good hands on experience of Exchange 2003 ?

Thanks

    Yes,

I have done this running a W2k (SP4) DC, a W2K (SP4) member server hosting Exchange W2K3 and 1 client (running XP SP2) with outlook 2003 and vmware (running w2k SP4 hosting the second Exchange W2K3).

If you don’t have vmware you can also host Exchange on the DC, to practise mailbox moves, ETC….

Just remember that there are some restrictions.
This however doesn't need to be a problem (since there will almost be something’s that you are not able to test in a home lab, unless you have some very fancy hardware (EG. clustering,...).

Plus any kind of lab (to test/play with) is always better than none.

    Just my 2 Cents.
    Kind regards.

VMware server is now free: http://www.vmware.com/products/server/ . It's really nice to be able to install Windows Server on that instead of having to run a bunch of different machines. I had 2 seperate VM's running W2k3 Server (DC) and W2k3 Server/Exchange 2k3 all running on my XP workstation. I did have to upgrade the RAM in my computer to 1GB though to do this. It works pretty well.

    LOL,

    Thx, for the confidence
Wouldn’t want to call myself a pro, I know a bit (and passed the exam).
But for me a pro is a guy/girl that has a ton of experience, (what I don't really have on this subject.)

    Kind regards.

That's great news and worth a separate topic. Thanks for the info.
