You're right. If I would of paid attention to the URL, I would of noticed there isn't an offer ID plugged in as one of the params being passed. I guess it is after all a multi-use coupon. Cheers.

I haven't personally gone through the course or the exam so it's difficult for me to say exactly where it stands. That being said, it's important to understand that eJPT is red team (offensive) while Security+ is more of a blue team (defensive) type of cert. Here's what I do know for sure:

- Based on the feedback from other people on this forum, it's a great entry-level cert for red team type of stuff
- eLearnSecurity's website states the certification is 100% hands on. There's reading material, videos and even a virtual lab to practice your skills before the exam. Despite the certification not being widely known about, it seems like an excellent learning opportunity, especially for the price. It's a rather cheap way for you to find out if OSCP (much more expensive) is really something you might be interested in.
- Within their pre-requisites, you'll find "Deep understanding of networking concepts". Other pre-requisites can be found here: https://www.elearnsecurity.com/certification/ejpt/pre-requisites
- If you look at the training section (PTS v3), it states: "PTS starts from the very basics and covers Networking and Programming skills every Penetration tester should have".



On a more personal note: I'm not discouraged by knowing very little about some of the listed pre-requisites. I (we all) had to start somewhere when I (we) knew nothing and made it this far already. When there's a will, there's a way.

Although I've done quite a bit of scripting in the past to automate repetitive tasks(usually bash scripting within a linux environment), I haven't done much programming at all which is why in my mind I'm more likely to end up in a blue team type of role. That being said, I truly believe there's a certain value to at least having some minimal knowledge and experience with tools like metasploit and burp suite, in a "I'll run an internal audit to at least be informed before paying the outside pros to come and do their job" kind of way. The eJPT cert is very hands on and the price looks right to me, especially with 100$ off. If anything, it'll at least help me stand out from the other candidates who also have security+ when applying for blue team type of roles.


TLDR:

- eJPT is an entry level cert.
- It's very hands on
- It's a cheap way to figure out if you want to move on to more pricey OSCP

I've gone through the eJPT barebones course. It's a lot of material, but doesn't go incredibly deep into very much. I'm also studying for the CEH, among other topics in tandem, and I'd say it's the hands-on technical compliment to the CEH. They truly reinforce each other well.
