I'm assuming that it's vSphere that you wish to learn about - as opposed to NSX or any of VMware's other products.
Do you have a background in data centre hardware, operating systems, and applications? This should be considered foundational in understanding what vSphere does and why.
If you've never touched vSphere before, start here: https://www.vmware.com/try-vmware/virtualization-17-hol-labs.html
There are more vSphere labs on this page: https://www.vmware.com/try-vmware/try-hands-on-labs.html
If you're looking to get certified in vSphere, the current certification is the VCP6.5-DCV - you can learn more about that here: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=100942&ui=www_cert
There is a training requirement as part of becoming a VCP, look through this board for posts on Stanly CC for what's probably the most cost-effective way of meeting the training requirement.VCP2 / VCP3 / VCP4 / VCP5 / VCAP4-DCA / VCI / vExpert 2010-2012
