Is Kaspersky Lab finished as an Anti-Virus vendor?

Since the allegations that Kaspersky Lab's was being used by the Russian government to hack into computer systems, the United States government removed Kaspersky Lab's from it's approved vendors list, as well as any company that has contracts with the U.S. Government. My own company is auditing systems to ensure there is no Kaspersky software in it's environment, I'm not aware of any, but they are validating that. Best Buy recently pull Kaspersky products from it shelves. The income form Anti-Virus software was 26 billion dollars in 2016, Kaspersky Lab's has a world wide market share of 4.5%, this represents over 1 billion dollars a year in income. Do you think Kaspersky Lab's will go out of business due to these allegations? Is you company moving to remove Kaspersky Lab's software from it's environment? [h=1][/h]

So I have always recommended against this product - better safe than sorry.

Myself I always was against KAV but company policies and private point of of view usually are different

I love their security research, but I wouldn't implement the AV...specially in a defence-type environment

I doubt they will go out of business, but its definitely a hit to them.

I would think so, especially for the government. Though, I have been in many DOD environments and NEVER seen that antivirus being used.

yeah, I have only seen it on home systems - prob bought at BestBuy or a trial version with new pc purchased.

DoD contractually uses another vendor, most if not all components are required to utilize it. Outside of DoD I would expect some states and other government agencies were using it, possibly contractors as well.

What do you guys use then for Antivirus? So far, I'm just using Malwarebytes and Windows Defender for Windows 10 Pro. Just an FYI, CCleaner "was" my go to PC/disk cleanup tool, but now have reverted back to windows disk cleanup as Malwarebytes found the most updated version contained issues - has anyone come across that before?

CCleaner was reported a couple of months ago as hacked with Malware in it. I don't use it so I would think they probably "fixed" it by now.

+1 for Windows Defender, it's good enough. If you're not using a next gen endpoint then what's the "point" in paying for something?

That's what I thought initially, unfortunately it doesn't detect enough...as far as endpoint AV is concerned, I don't think it's enough at all...use another enterprise AV instead of Windows Defender and then deploy something like FireEye HX as well if you want a better overall protection
