AWS - Learn / Cert / Get Experience How?

I'm looking to start learning cloud based technologies. Seems to be where everything is going. I am a sys admin in a healthcare environment, so we are slow to adopt new things especially moving data outside of our walls.

I still want to start learning AWS / cloud related tech, and some how get experience along the way. I want to stay current, even though my current employer may not be Not looking to jump ship just yet, have another baby on the way.

There's a lot of people on the other side of your walls that move your data without your approval anyway, and with relative ease i might add.
