So I took the MTA Security yesterday (with plans to take the Comptia Security + next week) but what concerns me is after the exam, they gave me my results which also included suggestions for taking an MCP exam. I thought Microsoft had done away with the MCP certs?

Basically they are suggesting you to go "higher" now - to take exams that qualify for MCP.

If you pass any of the MCSA exams, MCSE or Microsoft Specialist exams you will be a Microsoft Certified Professional. Check it here:

Even though MTA exams shouldn't qualify for this, I suspect Microsoft that they have a little bit of chaos in it as I get addressed as MCP in their marketing emails etc.

Update on the CompTIA exam......I DID NOT PASS..lol. I wasn't surprised at all as it was wayyyyyy more involved that the MTA. It's cool though I'll retry later in the year.

Lurked this thread a few months ago...did you ever get around to retrying the Security+ Exam? If so how did it go? :)
