Need help for CCNP certification

I would appreciate any help to guide for acquiring CCNP certification.
I didn't start the preparation yet.
I visited the cisco website to view the changes made regarding CCNP certification.So i noticed that some of the exams have last date for registration on september 7th 2003.So i want to know whether the books have bben released on the basis of new exams.
Please let me know whether the new exams are totally different or just an addition of new topics.
I want to acquire CCNP certification within 6 months.Is it possible to acquire it.
Please advice me regarding change of exam numbers.
