The books I used to pass the exam were Microsoft Press: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Windows XP Professional SE and FASTPASS Windows XP Professional. These two books seemed to compliment eachother very well along with the tech notes.
Pretty much everything was tested on the Exam Objectives, so be prepared for everything. One thing that surprised me on the exam were the many in depth Group Policy questions. I would estimate 15% of my questions were on changes within group policy. I just thought this would be more heavily targeted on the 290 exam. For those of you getting ready for this exam, I suggest having some experience (but not too much because sometimes Microsoft seems to do things a little differently then what we do in my enviroment). Also suggest creating a homelab VMWARE worked great for me.
Good Luck to everyone in there studies!!! -

I also used the MS Press book, and the exam cram 2, along with some reviewing of the technotes. Now it's off to 290. I purchased the MS press books for both 290 and 291 today. I'm hoping that if I read them side-by-side they'll reinforce each other.
For everyone preparing for this test, know group policy inside-out. You WILL be tested on this; heavily.
See you all in 290.CompTIA Tests: 220-301, 220-302, N10-003, SY0-101
