How many job per day do you apply before landing an interview.
I am seeing i have been applying 7-8 jobs everyday for a month, with may be 1 or 2 interviews in a month

cyberguypr Mod Posts: 6,928 ModI've never sprayed applications, even in my newbie days. In these times that we are living you have to spend so much time filling a whole bunch of redundant fields that you gotta make your time count.
Having said that, I've never been unemployed. Maybe if I were desperate I would blindly spray job applications. -

If you're doing 7 applications a day, each working day that's 140+ a month, with 1-2 interviews, then something is likely wrong with your resume.

Recently, I've lost my job, due to no fault of my own, and had to search for a replacement job. I used builtin.com, angel.co, Indeed Prime, and the rest of the major job boards. I also networked at local meetups and even when out drinkining/socializing -- when people asked me what I did or where I worked, I let them know I was in tech but currently looking for a role.
I didn't end up doing much applying. The few applications I did send out either didn't go anywhere or got back to me pretty late. There was even more than one instance where I applied to a job posting, but an internal recruiter found me on LinkedIn or one of the job boards for the same role, and hadn't seen my application in the pile.
I'm not saying applications don't have their place and not to apply at all, but they aren't the most efficient. Additionally, if you're in tech and have a decent resume, it's pretty easy to have employers come to you as long as you live in a decently populated area in the US.Goals for 2018:

N7Valiant Member Posts: 363 ■■■■□□□□□□For me, I had an initial spurt of about 10 or so jobs applications before I ran into repeat positions. After that I would average 3-4 applications per week with 1-2 interviews a week. Finally secured a position about 5 weeks after I started searching around December 19th, which was over the holidays.OSCP

NetworkNewb Member Posts: 3,298 ■■■■■■■■■□I'm usually pretty picky on where I apply to. Sounds crazy you would even see that many jobs you would want to do. No way you can be tailoring your resume for each position. Most likely that is why you aren't getting many interviews and you're probably missing out on some good chances as well.

alias454 Member Posts: 648 ■■■■□□□□□□I think I only submitted 10 applications prior to getting my current job. I was pretty picky and made sure I tailored my resume for each position I was applying to. Another thing I did was looked up those companies on linked in to make connections.“I do not seek answers, but rather to understand the question.”
