Thinking about doing the ejpt but want to know what the labs are like set up etc

Do I need to install the tools myself in a vm (virtual box/workstation) or are the labs and tools already set up for you in a browser

You would need to install them yourself. You can install the tools individually if you are running Windows. However, the best scenario is to install Kali Linux on a VM and just keep it updated.

Run Kali Linux in a VM. eLS will provide OpenVPN config files for you to VPN in.

Download the files and openvpn onto the network.
