Anyone leverage Blogs or Websites to gain employment?

I was wondering if it would be okay to compare blogs on this forum. Since it's basically (at least for me) an extension of your resume.

I always add my word press site when displaying visuals.

Mine is in fledging status after only starting it a few months ago. My purpose is that having an online presence other than social media can only aid your chances unless you really want to showcase design elements you've created.
