I am looking for recommendations of books related to storage that can give me a deep understanding of the overall technology. Wondering if this group has any recommendation?

There aren't a lot of well rounded storage books, and sadly most vendors only make their documentation available to paying customers, check this out, its a little older, but I think its what you are looking for.

Ditto, EMC's ISM book is very good and pretty readable. That book will get you a passing grade on the EMCISA (or whatever the new DellEMC name is).

Bonus value is that its a very good reference for SAN storage that will help with Cloud+.
