my mate called me tonight to say that he has a problem with his pc when he switches it on.
when he switches it on he gets system32\DRIVERS\pci.sys missing or corrupt
i took the windows xp cd with me and i tried to run it from the cd rom so i could run the repair on the system but it then just crashes when i try that.
what i found out was he was messing around with the memory sticks inside the pc as he was going to put another one in. would this have caused him to damage them in any way?
any kind of help would be great as he cannot start his pc up and i really want to try and help him out with this without him having to buy a new pc!

Silver Bullet Member Posts: 676 ■■■□□□□□□□Have you tried a repair install?
Have you tried replacing the file in the recovery console?
Could also consider using a boot cd to back up his data and start over!!
But buy a new PC?????
