What terminal software do you use?

Can anyone recommend something better than HyperTerminal to connect to my routers via a console cable (both windows and linux suggestions would be appreciated)?
Can anyone tell me why Ctrl+Shift+6+x doesn't appear to work for my 2500? Is it because of HyperTerminal, or maybe the IOS version? 12.0(3) is the higest I currently use (soon to be 12.2(3)).
Thanks.

Spudage Member Posts: 56 ■■□□□□□□□□I know that I am pressing the keys correctly as I have used this command on a different lab in the past.
On my lab that I have recently setup, if I telnet from one router to another and then try to suspend the session, it does nothing. I'm having to disconnect completely before being able to enter commands on the router that I'm consoled into. -

its very common on those routers.........for some reasons sometimes its works and sometimes it doesn't....
you might have to study the ios options, but that would probably take too long...........
usually people press all at once, but it is the exact way mentioned by routingbyrumour!...... -

Spudage Member Posts: 56 ■■□□□□□□□□Thanks guys, I'm using SecureCRT right now.
I'm still not having any luck suspending my telnet sessions though. Is there a manual command I can type to get the same result? It's a pain typing the VTY password, then enable, and the enable password over and over when I disconnect and then reconnect to a router. -
darkplayer Member Posts: 23 ■□□□□□□□□□I'm using "Hyperterminal Special Edition", works pretty well with XP.

I use SecureCRT too, i dont understand your problem? Why not have multiple
windows running simultaneously with different telnet sessions to each router?Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$ -

Because currently I only have console access to the routers (and only one console cable.
Hmm maybe I was doing something wrong, it appears to be working correctly again now. Either way, I'm happy
