Passed Linux+

I gained 755. This is my 5th win in Comptia series. Since last October I have made A+, Network+, iNet+, Server+, and Linux+ one after another. Linux was my main OS but has been off for years. For the first time in 5 years I brushed up Linux. I am so so satisfied.

Excellent work! Looks like you are on the fast track! So what is next, another CompTIA exam (Security+ maybe)?

What did you use to study for the exam? And did you use a specific distribution of Linux for practice?

Can you list some of the areas you saw on the exam and did you encounter only single answer multiple choice questions, or was there other types of question formats?

    Take Care,

    Dear Rcoop

Thank you for your words First I have to report on a sad thing. My boss won't reimburse the test fee. Since Linux is non standard in our division. Here is a crazy Microsoft kingdom. No open source resource is allowed. I am an Intranet webmaster while a backup for an Internet webmaster who runs a Linux based server in another division. I don't mind money. Yes, I will try LPIC-I and Security+.

I had started Linux from Slackware so sesoned thick with BSD taste. Against my preference, defacto standard is System V and rpm packaging, as you know? So I used RedHat 8.0 and Fedora Core 5.0. My old skills and knowledge were at best till early releases of kernel 2.2 series. So I reviewed basics with available materials in internet. I bought Exam Cram 2 but didn't rely much on it.

In addition, I read through a server cook book and "securing and optimizing Linux: ReaHat Edition (I could download this before.)"

Linux+ is said to be easier than other Linux certificates but I felt this rather formidable. Nearly 100 question in 90 minutes. Multiple questions were probably few or none. 70% were on basics and the rest on applied or particular options or settings. Some of which I have rarely seen. Awful Debian dpkg and RedHat rpm options were least, one or two I remember. A previous article "XKO-002" posted in this Linux forum reflects well an aspect of the test that I took.

I hope this to be of your little service.

    Thank you for all
