Nowadays,their are many career option other than IT.Some of given below:
1. Business Analyst
2. Clinical Researcher
3. Ethical Hacker

My girlfriend works as a perfusionist during cardiac surgeries and shes making way more bank than I am. Then again, there was about almost 6 years of schooling involved. I should have went into healthcare tech/applied sciences!

But in IT our education doesn't really stop....

That is true. My original context was in an academia environment but you're right about IT is an ongoing education experience.
