Problem connecting to Router
frankj1247
Hey all,
I'm having a problem with HyperTerminal. I have the console cable connected to the back of the PC and into the console port of the router. I'm doing everything stated in the book in terms of the port settings, but when I go to open the connection it sometimes say "Unable to open Com1. Check your port settings." Other times it opens and appears to be working, but no input from the Router to my screen.
I know it's probably something silly that I'm doing wrong, but thanks in advance to whoever knows what's wrong and can help me.
-Frank

Do you have more than 1 serial port on your PC and if so are you sure that the one you are attempting to use is designated as COM1?
Can you post the settings you are attempting to use in HT?

Silver Bullet,
What you said definitely solved the problem, I have one DB9 and one DB25, so I disabled Com2 and HyperTerminal connects just fine to the Router now.
Thanks, Frank
