its a switch, a multi-layer switch what are you trying to do with it

Too broad of a question,its like saying tell me about the cisco catalyst, i have a little experience with the passport atm switches, not very user friendly if you ask me.

hello,

i really dont know if there is a newer version - but inside the 8600 chassis you can plug bunch of modules including the switching & routing & security bla bla bla... : )
but from the nortel users side - they say that the box a lot smarter than other in terms of CLI. I dont know : )
