Do I need to know about ATM to learn MPLS?

Hey guys,

I'm just about to finish the CCNP and already started to plan my studies for the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure.
Since I have not learned anything about MPLS yet, I grabbed the book "MPLS and VPN Architectures" by Ivan P. and Jim G.

Now in the book I see a lot about ATM and I'm a bit confused since I never saw it from CCNA to CCNP and don't know much about it.

Is this book maybe outdated or can I still use it today to learn about MPLS?

I dont think you will need to know about ATM, just read the parts about MPLS. 

Im in the same boat as you, since theres not alot of Enterprise material yet im starting with R/S material and skipping stuff like RIP and PPPoE ect ect
