crap I forgot my old pwd Member Posts: 250can't say about cali, but in IL its about $10/hr - $12/hr for most places with or without A+. The only major place around here that mandates A+ is CompUSA for their techs and best buy for some of their techs

I got $10 job in Oct with just the hardware part of A+, This month I interviewed for a $20 job, I could have gotten the job but for my accent, anyway I did accept another offer for $17. 10 months in the states and less than 2 yrs in IT I think besides job experience certs(begining with A+).are your next door opener. All things work together for good........to them that believe..

jpeezy55 Member Posts: 255I'm currently making $12.50/Hour but am interviewing for a job next week that pays $16.75/hour...not sure if I'd take it because of the drive, but who knows! Maybe next week I'll be thinking differently (if I'm even offered it of course).Tech Support: "Ok, so your monitor is not working, the screen is blank, and no matter what you do it stays blank? Do you see that button on the bottom right hand side just below the screen? Press it. . . . Great, talk to you next time!"

How much experience do you have? -

Un-officially I have been messing with computers since 1981...
Offically/Professionally, not much experience at all.
I did Heating and Air Conditioning work for 16 years, with 1 year of Sales. When I lost that job (downsizing) I decided that I wanted a change of career and so I went to a Technical School for Instructor Led Certification Classes (A+, MCSA/MCSE, and Cisco) and that lasted from October of 2004 until January 2006. I got my A+ in January of 2005 and in June of 2005 I got the job that I have now as a PC Technician (Only had A+ at that time, but it was a requirement for this job). Now, I have a couple more certs and that job interview this week.
So, if you truly look at it, I have only 1 year of experience Professionally, but I have the general knowledge from having done work on computers for so long...I also only do this for myself, I do not work on anybody else's computers or build them for people or anything like that, it's just a hobby of mine I guess...Tech Support: "Ok, so your monitor is not working, the screen is blank, and no matter what you do it stays blank?
