JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminAmazon.com Prime Day 2020 is October 13-14th. I'm not expecting much in the way of computer component deals, but it's worth a browse.

I think after November 3, 2020 we will see a lot of the state-level restrictions on business lifted. Florida and Indiana have already lifted all restriction on restaurants, so the ball is rolling.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminFirst thing I've noticed on Prime Day computer components: Up to 30% off Build-Your-Own PC components from AMD, MSI, ASUS and more
Oh, don't forget to check out NewEgg as well. -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminBe sure to check Amazon price history sites like camelcamelcamel to check how good a price you are seeing is.
I bought a Crucial MX500 2TB SSD for $177. That's the lowest price ever and $50 lower than the same item on NewEgg. -
chrisone Member Posts: 2,278 ■■■■■■■■■□Just picked up a couple HAM radios on prime day sale. If you are interested in outdoors, trails, hiking, outlander, off-road, 4x4, camping, prepping, then you know HAM radio is a must.
2PCs Baofeng Radios UV-5R MK5 8 Watt - $75.44 for 2 or $40 for 1.
I still need to get my HAM license, I know I know.... (and no you don't need a license to buy ham radios for those that are curious about my comment)Certs: CISSP, EnCE, OSCP, CRTP, eCTHPv2, eCPPT, eCIR, LFCS, CEH, SPLK-1002, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-900, AZ-500, VHL:Advanced+

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminI bought a Baofeng several years ago to go with my General and hardly used it. I need to get with a local Ham group for some stimulation.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminOK, well, APD for computer components was good if you were looking to build a mid-level system with Ryzen 7, ATI GPU, and MSI mobo, which makes a good gaming system. Unfortunately for me, higher-end stuff wasn't on discount. I ended up buying a Thermaltake C35 case to get my game build off the ground and a few small items. I'm hoping the BF deals will be wider and better.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminSo I ended up with my "dream" Linux gaming rig being built before Xmas with an AIO-water-cooled Ryzen 9 3900XT in an Asus Hero VIII mobo, 3TB SSD, and 32GB RAM. I'm running Pop!_OS (Debian Linux) because of its support for games and nVidia. One day, I'll add another M.2 and put Windows 10 on it to dual-boot for games that don't work correctly--or at all--under Linux.
And speaking of nVidia: I gave up on getting a 30{7,8,9}0 nVidia card for now. I bought an $80 Asus GeForce GT 1030 as a placeholder until the 30x0 is available at a reasonable price. The 1030 is such a huge step-up from the laptop GPU I was gaming on that I'm very happy with this decision.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,099 AdminRight now I'm discovering what older games I have on Steam that do or don't work well on Linux for one reason or another. I may get some older games that I wanted to try but never bought. ('tis the season for discounted software.) As for new new games, I'm not sure about anything that isn't named Half-life Alyx, but I'd need to buy a VR headset.
