VPC = Permanent Virtual Circuit
SVC = Switched Virtual Circuit
this is all in relation to Frame-Relay (WAN encapsulations/protocols)
any ideas?

LMI offers Status messages and multicasting across Frame links.
The LMI global addressing extension gives Frame Relay data-link connection identifier (DLCI) values global rather than local significance
LMI virtual circuit status messages provide communication and synchronization between Frame Relay DTE and DCE devices, they send periodic reports to prevent "black holes"
For a full detail on Frame read this

wildfire Member Posts: 654With regards to SVC, LMI provides the mapping, however PVC is more common and the "de facto" for frame networks. Have a read of the link I posted it gives a good explanation.Looking for CCIE lab study partnerts, in the UK or Online.
