DevSecOps Questions

All, I am completely new to DevSevOps. I'm jumping in with both feet in my current role, and I'm being asked to help build the "Sec" in DevSecOps. We are currently using GitLab as the CI/CD pipeline, and want to integrate the automated security checks. Does anyone have resources to recommend to learn more about it, and also tools they would suggest to start with? Thanks!
