I just wanted to ask is there a difference between an IT degree and Computer Information Systems (management information systems)?

The CIS/MIS degrees are very "20th century." Do modern colleges still offer them at the Bachelors or Masters level?

Typically, CIS programs are more on the technical side that the Management Information Systems program. The best way is to look at the curriculum of the programs from the schools you are looking at and see which one interests you the most.

And I'll add, there are no 'standards'. What an IT Degree might look like in one institution can be extremely different in another institution. Look at the curriculum and make sure the university has a good reputation
