Getting any type of experience really really HELPS!

If you guys dont remeber I made a thread about 2 months ago about landing a job fixing computers for baltimore county public schools( my first IT job ), Well the contract was intinally for 4 months, but out of nowhere with no Warning the contract got cut to 6 weeks, we were working 1 week and next week NOTHING. Of course everyone was upset, Time to look for a new job. Sadly enough it's easier to find a warehouse job than a IT job. So I had to take one in the meantime. No offense to people who work in the warehouse(I've done it for 5 years), but it really upset me to go from an IT job back to a warehouse job, with an $3/hr pay cut at that icon_sad.gif. During the little lay off I decided to get my MCP( it was out of anger kinda. since i was laid off just like that heh). My Goal was to get back into the IT field ASAP, warehouse jobs suck and the pay is crap.

So while at the warehouse job I finally get an interview for a POS company doing repairs. than I get another interview and another. currently I have 4 different companies wanting to interview me all in a 1 week. WOW. I never got this type of response when I had my A+ & network+ and no experience.

So the moral of the story is, take whatever type of IT related job you can get, It really really HELPS. It's funny cause I was only at the other place for 6 weeks, and now I'm in a situation where I'm choosing which company to go with. I start the POS job next week, I interviewed with Unisys today, I have an interview with medstar tomorrow and some other company next wednesday. If i haven't said it before. EXPERIENCE really helps, I think the MCP added also.

It looks like you were able to take a bad situation and turn it completely around. Great success to you from here on out!

Great story! Keep studying and most importantly get to know people in the field! In my experience, it really is who you know that can land you that great job.

    Good job,

Its good to see you turn things around, and you are right, that one bit of experience opens doors, Experience wins over Certs nowaday.
