Yesterday after 7 months of reading. I sat and passed the MS-500. It goes EOL on the 30th. I wanted to take it to validate my own working knowledge of M365 Security.

I got about 7 MSFT renewals to do, then onward into SC-400 and then SC-100.

Congrats on the pass. You mention seven month of reading. How many hours all up did you spend studying? What resources did you use?

Mainly used the MS-500 book from Packt and also followed along with the MS Learn content. Then I used my home-lab instance of M365 via a 5 pack of E5 licenses I pay for on a month-to-month that my employee reimburses me on. I spent about 2-3 hours a day studying.

I made a very elaborate setup in M365 between my paid tenant and the M365 developer subscription. I bought two domains from Godaddy and bought a pair of wildcard certificates and really labbed till my heart was content.

Right now I'm doing nothing but renewals:

But after all of these, I'll do the SC-400 and then AZ-500, and then SC-100, before going into the 800's.

I'm also the lead hands-on M365/Azure Security Engineer for my day job, so overall; lots of practice.
