Windows Server 2022

Looking to prep an ESXi box to house a Windows Server 2022 test environment. Can anyone comment on licensing and how long I would have to demo the environment? I'd be after AD environment, joining VMs to the DC, possibly tying to Azure for cloud learning tied to on-prem.
As well, what certs would you recommend concerning on-prem DC for Server 2022?
Skillsets looking to acquire: powershell commandlets, scripts, querying, DC server admin via GUI/commmandlets

A ESXi license is good for 60 days before it demotes to the free version and that is perfectly usable. Server 2022 probably lasts for 120 days but that can basically be ignored.
AFAIK there are no MS certs for Server 2022. You have to go the Azure route.

What's the last Windows Server cert path that works with on-prem setup?

It was probably MCSE 2016. Content will still be relevant but cert is retired
